Foundation Constructors, Inc. was established in 1971 with a mission to provide safe, cost effective, and innovative deep foundation solutions for the construction industry. Today, Foundation Constructors, Inc., and its wholly owned subsidiaries Foundation Pile and Foundation Power, are recognized among the leading companies in the US deep foundations industry.

Foundation thanks and honors those who serve or have served in the US Military. We support Operation Creekside by collecting, boxing and shipping care packages for our troops serving overseas, and we host camps for those struggling from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We are committed to recruiting/hiring veterans and proudly sponsor them throughout their deployments and back into the workforce.

Company History

1971

Foundation Constructors, Inc. is founded Fred Cavin, Ray Rose, Joe Hilton and Barney Murdock. Their hope was to create a modern and dynamic pile driving company in California.

1976

Through the vision and hard work of its founders, the company began to grow. As it grew, the company purchased the H.F. Lauritzen Construction Company and ultimately relocated all of its resources to the current Oakley, CA facility.

1978

Foundation Constructors launches its first wholly-owned subsidiary, Foundation Pile, Inc., to better serve the Southern California market.

1990

After the 1989 earthquake in San Francisco, Foundation Constructors provided retrofits to many businesses and structures through the use of low-clearance TUBEX piles.

2006

Foundation Constructors enters the drilled foundation market by purchasing the assets of American Pile Driving, the company founded by Byrl Williams P.E., a pioneer within the drilled foundations industry.

2010

2020

Over the years, the expertise that developed with both the driven and drilled applications clearly positioned Foundation as a recognized industry leader and expert within the state of California.

2022

Foundation Power is established to provide the deep foundation drilling for utility infrastructure.

The company has continued its growth and success through the desire and ability to provide our customers with confidence and results on each and every project.

Our hands-on management, innovative engineering staff, and experienced, professional construction team are prepared to provide the necessary deep foundation solutions to ensure the success of our clients and their projects.

Our Dedication to Safety

As a unified team, Foundation believes that its corporate commitment to safety shall be implemented and reinforced by the personal safety commitment of each and every employee. As a part of our hiring process, all onboarding employees make a personal commitment to safety. This pledge is intended to raise employee awareness and improve personal safety behaviors throughout our organization. This pledge serves as a reminder to the mindset that working safely is a condition of employment.

Before the start of any work, all employees of Foundation receive stop work authority training. This plays a vital role in our safety success. Working with a safety-first mindset is what each of our employees owe to their family every day they come to work. In turn, coworkers display a call to be responsible not only to their own family but to the families of those around them.

Our culture of safety is accomplished by engaging our employees on a day-to-day basis. We mandate frequent safety training, have recognition programs in place, and encourage effective communication in order to uphold a higher standard of work ethic. Our goal of no lost-time accidents and no OSHA-recordable incidents is routinely achieved; in fact, it is not uncommon for our teams to achieve multiple and consecutive years of this success.
